First of, my name is pronounced "fy-got"

I was told I needed to change my name. I was quite surprised by this as I have never received any issues or complaints about my name and I've been using it for years. It's a nickname that developed over the years with my brother and best friend. It is not offensive, it's not supposed to be some cheeky way of getting away with saying "faggot" or anything like that.

I admit I didn't handle the situation well. I asked why. I was told "you know why." I don't know why actually, since this has never happened. I was annoyed by this whole thing as I was just minding my business playing the game. I responded "It's my name screw you." I then made it worse by making a nazi joke because it's a WW2 game and I basically called them nazis.

I want to apologize for calling anyone a nazi and for saying screw you. It was a childish way to respond.

I hope I have cleared up any confusion about my name. The server is the best around and I'd love to get back.

I agree with that and I would argue the my name is not offensive and is not violating any rules. I have been playing in the core tdm server on waw for the past hour with no issues. Although an AI in the game shouted "DIE YOU SON OF A BITCH." How is that ok for kids but my name isn't?

My 2 cents worth. If that is your name then no one can take that away from you. All I ask for is to consider the following! Would the majority of the people that play on the server take it the wrong way? I say they would! I do! If you are allowed to use your name on the server, what would others think and maybe do. Would others then try to use an alias (IGN) that insinuates something else and use you as a precedent in argument. Most likely!

I'd say use the rules as they stand, otherwise its free for all and a door will be open for everyone else to abuse.  Again all I am saying is it takes one to be offended and there is.

Its a rule set by this clan and therefore just change your IGN. Its not hard if you want to play.

I just don't see how my name is against the rules. Is it possible to just change my name or do I need to create a new account or something and lose my rank and stats.

If changing my name is the only way, I will happily do it. I just feel it isn't offensive in a game where the AI are cursing and we are shooting each other. But overall I want to get back on the server, so if I need to, I will change it.

To transfer your rank to a new profile go to your players folder where your stored profile folders are and find your current profile folder: 

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players\profiles\phaigot

Inside that folder you will find a file named mpdata. Copy that file over the new mpdata file in your new profile folder and your rank will be the same as in the old profile.

If you cannot find your AppData folder, it could be a hidden folder and you may need to show hidden files and folders by going to control panel, Appearance and Personalization, Folder Options, View and enable Show hidden files, folders or drives and click OK.

For hidden files and folders in Windows 10 go to Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, File Explorer Options, View, enable Show hidden files, folders, and drives and click OK.

If you want to try that let us know what your new profile is and your ban will be lifted.
