You can record an in game demo if you suspect a player may be cheating, using hacks, scripting, RDMing, T baiting, ghosting, verbally disrespectful or verbally abusive and show it to our JAG team for review. Best way is to use the in game demo recording feature.

1.  First you need to make sure your console is enabled. Run the game, go to the menu, then press options, then advanced. Then check Enable Developer Console.

2.  To record a demo join the server and go to spectator.  If you would like to record the view of the player you are recording, press your attack/fire key or mouse click to scroll through players until the player in question is selected.

3.   Open console by holding down the ~  key to the left of the 1 key until it brings up the console, type this in console and then press enter:

record cheaternoob

You will then notice the demo is recording on the top right hand corner of your screen, it will display as [  REC] with a red dot before REC.

4.  When you have recorded enough evidence, type this in console and then press enter to stop the recording:

stop

Note:  If you would like to review your demo before submitting, and if the name of the demo is cheaternoob, press SHIFT+F2, then press load in the demo menu to search for the demo file, double left click on the file to play it, or type playdemo cheaternoob in console and press enter.  If you choose to use the demo menu by pressing SHIFT+F2 you will be able to search for the file and run it, in this case it would be cheaternoob.dem and you will have access to more controls which are self explanatory.

To stop viewing the demo, type this in console and press enter:

stopdemo

Or if you are using the demo menu, simply press the stop button in the demo menu.

Note:  If you decide to use the same name multiple times when recording more demos, be sure to not duplicate it exactly and add a variable to the name, cheaternoob1, cheaternoob2 cheaternoob3 etc... Otherwise you will overwrite the previous demo with the new one.

5.    Now you need to locate your demo.  If you already used the demo menu it showed you the exact location of the demo .dem file:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod

6. After you have found your demo file, create a new topic.  Then type in all your information, on the bottom  click on Attachments and other options, click on browse, select the demo file and click post. You should now have a  ban request with a  demo submission for our JAG team to review. The demo file attachment link will show directly under your post as in the example below.
